Backlit Luminous Ceilings

Ever wondered what ideal lighting looks like?
It’s when light evenly and gently fills a space—illuminating every object without casting harsh shadows. How is that possible? With CeilDex backlit lighting technology, your entire ceiling becomes a source of soft, uniform, and comfortable light.

Is it really possible? Absolutely.
CeilDex Light makes it a reality. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and extensive expertise, we transform your ceiling into a luminous, evenly lit surface.

Need more flexibility? We offer additional lighting options, including zone-specific illumination and RGB lighting to create mood-enhancing color effects—tailored to your interior.

How it works? :
A precise array of compact light sources is installed across the base ceiling. These are then covered by a translucent stretch ceiling, which diffuses the light to create a smooth, seamless glow throughout the space.

You’ve likely seen this effect in action—in Apple Stores, Microsoft stores, and Tesla showrooms. Now, you can bring that same level of lighting sophistication into your own environment.

-LED Sheets

LED sheets are a cutting-edge lighting solution used in CeilDex Light Ceiling projects, delivering exceptional brightness, efficiency, and versatility. These ultra-thin, flexible panels are embedded with dense arrays of LEDs that produce a uniform, powerful glow across the entire surface.

Thanks to advanced technology, LED sheets offer customizable illumination, enabling dynamic lighting effects tailored to each environment. Their low-profile, lightweight design allows for seamless integration into CeilDex ceiling systems—eliminating the bulk of traditional fixtures while ensuring even light distribution.

Ideal for both ambient lighting and architectural highlights, LED sheets provide a sleek, energy-efficient way to transform any space with modern brilliance.

Backlit Ceiling Specifications & Material Selection

A backlit ceiling is designed as a coordinated assembly: translucent membrane, perimeter profile, LED light source, power supplies and controls. The specification depends on the intended lighting effect, room use, dimensions and available installation depth.

Vecta Design Translucent Membranes

We select Vecta Design materials to suit each project. Light transmission, diffusion, surface appearance, available width and fire classification vary by material. No single transmission value applies to the complete range.

Examples from the Vecta Design material collection include T-403 White (41% light transmission), T-405 Lumi (47%) and T-400 Pure White (68%). These are material properties, not the output or efficiency of the completed lighting system. The selected membrane and LED layout are evaluated together.

LED Sources & MEAN WELL HLG Drivers

LED sheets, lattice lighting or other suitable LED sources are selected around the surface geometry, required output and available depth. White, tunable-white and color-changing configurations depend on the selected equipment.

We typically use MEAN WELL HLG series LED drivers. Power rating, output voltage or current and dimming version are selected to match the LED load and project requirements. Control compatibility is checked against the exact driver model and control equipment.

UL Classification & Component Documentation

Vecta Design displays UL Classified and ULC Listed marks in its material catalogue. For T-403 White, the manufacturer's technical datasheet states a fire classification of Class 1 (UL USA) and B-s1,d0 (Europe). The applicable classification and documentation must be matched to the specified material.

MEAN WELL HLG documentation includes UL 8750 safety approvals; the applicable approvals are checked for the selected model. Material fire classifications and driver approvals apply to the identified components and do not establish a UL Listing for the complete custom ceiling assembly.

Dimensions, Depth & Installation

Panel dimensions, material width, any required welds, mounting details and site access are confirmed for each project. The required cavity depends on LED spacing, optics and the membrane. There is no universal minimum depth or installation time for every luminous ceiling.

Coordinate structural support, electrical work, sprinklers, ventilation and access to LEDs and drivers before installation. Use the approved project details and the component manufacturers' installation requirements.

Maintenance & Warranty

Plan a practical service route for LEDs and drivers. Cleaning methods follow the selected membrane's care instructions. Warranty terms for the membrane, lighting equipment and installation are confirmed separately in the project proposal.
